Are you ready to change the world? The Year 5 pupils at Tilery Primary School in Stockton certainly are! In our recent Spark sessions with these enthusiastic young minds, we witnessed a powerful commitment to exploring equal opportunities and breaking down gender stereotypes as part of the Power of Women (PoW) campaign and the Primary School Ambassador Program.

These pupils shared their big dreams for the future and voiced a strong belief that Teesside is a place of potential and promise—one where girls can thrive and achieve, despite the region’s reputation as a challenging place for young girls to grow up. This passionate drive to shift the narrative is at the heart of the PoW initiative, making Tilery’s involvement all the more inspiring.

Our discussions took us across a range of topics including equality in sports, like football, where male and female players each bring unique strengths to the game. To conclude, we focused on self-reflection, encouraging each pupil to consider their own passions and strengths, using the PoW application form as a guide to aligning their stories with their ambitions and thinking about their future careers.

For the selection of our ambassadors, we were fortunate to have Jill Fiden, from Thirteen Group on our interview panel. The pupils received a real-life taste of the interview process, Jill and the team listened as each child confidently stepped into the interview room, brimming with ideas and aspirations. With the overwhelming number of outstanding applications, choosing just a few ambassadors proved challenging!

Our two sessions at Tilery Primary were unforgettable, and working alongside these vibrant young leaders left us deeply inspired. These children are already making a difference, and we are thrilled to watch them grow as ambassadors for equality and change!
