What a phenomenal afternoon at Breckon Hill Primary School which involved their Year 2 pupils donning hi-vis jackets and hard hats as they delved into the world of construction. Armed with spanners, nuts, and bolts, these young builders set out to create their own free-standing structures. From simple towers to elaborate bridges, their imaginations ran wild as they learned about the importance of communication, collaboration and problem-solving. As they tightened bolts and connected pieces, they not only built physical structures but also laid the foundation for future careers in engineering and construction.

We looked at people who work in construction and challenged gender stereotypes surrounding the industry. We even had time to code robots around our construction site changing their lights and making sounds to warn of any potential hazards. What an incredible day working with these creative pupils!
