What an incredible Power of Women (PoW) session at Heathfield Primary School which is part of the Lingfield Trust, collaborating closely with their Year 5 pupils engaging with the Primary School Ambassador Initiative. The primary aim of the Ambassador Program is to elevate aspirations, advocate for equal opportunities, and challenge gender biases. This inclusive program invites all pupils, offering them a chance to deeply engage with the principles of equality through interactive sessions run by Spark Tees Valley within their classrooms.
These fantastic Year 5 children talked all about their futures and aspirations and we even checked out our Spark interactive business map of the Tees Valley https://www.sparkteesvalley.com/interactive-business-map/ to explore career opportunities in our local area. We used the app Keynote to think about career choices and reflect on the things they are passionate about by identifying their strengths before sharing their thoughts with others. We began to unpick some of the essential enterprise skills and attitudes that underpin many future opportunities. As usual, the rest of the session was couched within the context of life choices and the skills and attitudes that allow you to keep your options open throughout your life. More than that in fact, ways to enhance your opportunities in getting the things you want.
Yesterday, we had the honour of selecting four exceptional ambassadors to represent their school. We were privileged to welcome Martha from Jacksons Law Firm and Liza from Active Financials, who helped conduct the interview process, providing the children with a real-life glimpse into the world of work. The Year 5 students, brimming with enthusiasm, took turns entering the interview room, each showcasing remarkable confidence and excellent application forms during their interviews.
What an incredible experience it has been, engaging in two impactful sessions at Heathfield Primary, where we explored the concept of equality within the classroom, looked in depth at future aspirations and conducted interviews for the PoW Primary Ambassador Program, nurturing these young leaders of the future!
