The fantastic Year 4 children from St Benedict’s Primary School showed real passion and enthusiasm for today’s ‘Energy Academy Workshop’ funded by Redcar and Cleveland College.
Poppy, one of our Year 4 Energy Engineers, left today’s session explaining why she loves science and how incredible she thought it was to have a science-inspired morning.
Over the course of the two-hour interactive science workshop, the children learned all about opportunities in our local area in the renewable energy sector and they even become Energy Engineers making critical decisions on where to build a wind farm before constructing their own working model.
Looking ahead, they even considered the use of hydrogen as a fuel of the future! Using the process of water electrolysis, separating hydrogen from water, and then recombining these elements, they harness the engird from the water to drive their hydrogen-powered cars before racing them in the Hydrogen Grand Prix (in darkness in the dining hall)!
You can see from the pictures below how engaged they were in their learning, and what an awesome morning we had becoming Energy Engineers!
