The incredible children from Wilton Primary school worked extremely hard today on the next installment of our ‘Energy Academy’ workshops funded by Redcar and Cleveland College.
These wide-eyed and super-focused Year 3 and Year 4 children learned all about renewable energy and the important role it will play in Teesside. They also looked at future career opportunities that could be open to them right on their doorstep on the ‘Energy Coastline’.
Over the course of the morning, they became ‘Energy Engineers’ as they independently planned and built their own working model of a wind farm. We didn’t just stop there, we also had time to squeeze in the Hydrogen Grand Prix with children setting up their own hydrogen-powered car and learning all about electrolysis to separate the hydrogen from distilled water to power the car!
Their focus, commitment and enthusiasm levels were off the charts and the children even considered the possibility of hydrogen being the fuel of the future.
