The sun shone brightly on the children from Discovery Special Academy today on the next installment of our Redcar and Cleveland College funded Energy Academy workshops. They began with learning about our area and future careers in the energy sector.
Over the rest of the morning, these little rays of sunshine became energy engineers and planned and built their own working model of a wind farm; carefully considering the financial and ethical implications of different routes for their cables. Their teamwork and communication skills were off the charts and each group listened carefully to all its members before making their final decisions.
Today the power from the solar panels to separate the hydrogen and oxygen from water in our hydrogen-powered cars is at record levels! The sun was certainly shining on us today as they flipped the switch on the hydrogen cars and watched them drive around the playground for over five minutes!
What a morning and such an incredible Energy Academy session!
