Another fantastic day on the Redcar and Cleveland College-funded Energy Academy Workshops. Today the incredible Year 5s at Wheatlands Primary school in Redcar blew us away with their engagement levels in our science sessions!
Over the course of the two-hour interactive science workshop, the children learned all about opportunities in our local area in the renewable energy sector and they even become Energy Engineers making critical decisions on where to build a wind farm before constructing their own working model.
Looking ahead, they even considered the use of hydrogen as a fuel of the future! Using the process of water electrolysis, separating hydrogen from water, and then recombining these elements, they created power to drive their hydrogen-powered cars before racing them in the Hydrogen Grand Prix!
You can see from the pictures below how engaged they were in their learning, and what an awesome morning we had becoming Energy Engineers!
Mrs Percival, their class teacher said, “The children had really high levels of engagement in the workshop and left talking enthusiastically all about what they had learned!”
