Spark was delighted to be asked by Tees Valley Museums and Priory Woods to create a short video showcasing the work that they did together in the Summer Term. The ‘literacy loans’ project is open to all schools.
A piece of history, in this case a tea brick (ideal for builders’ tea?), was sent to the school and through a series of workshops with museum staff and a local author, the students built a project around it. It was designed to be a two week project but ended up lasting months as the students and teachers found new and interesting ways, all linked to the curriculum, in which to engage. Speaking to the lead teacher afterwards she highly recommended this approach to all schools and if you watch the short video you will hear how engaged the students were….even if they aren’t always by school! Their next project starts next month!
