Today was the penultimate TVCA funded World of Word day at AV Dawson with Hemlington Hall and Normanby Primary School pupils and what a day it was! From the moment both schools stepped foot inside, it was obvious that AV Dawson take care of their employees like they are family. A strong sense of community was evident and the pupils (and staff) could see the people who work there are just like one big work family!
Speaking of family, two pupils today ran into their mum and dad who also work at AV Dawson – one in the HR department and the other on the containers! It was lovely to see two generations of the same family in the same workplace.
As usual, both schools had the opportunity to visit a real working environment and code Dash robots around an interactive map of the Tees Valley while choosing which company they would like to visit. I think they would have coded Dash all day if we had let them but linking that activity to the company on our interactive map and preparing a presentation ensured that the learning opportunities were maximised.
Below are the photos and the presentations from the day for you to enjoy.
