What an incredible day for our PoW Ambassadors as they gathered for the first time at AV Dawson for our PoW Development Day! The agenda was packed with engaging sessions on networking, ambassadorship and essential workplace skills. We were delighted to welcome our enthusiastic business professionals who actively participated, generously sharing their expertise and industry insights.
With brand-new PoW notebooks in hand and freshly signed ambassador contracts, the day began by exploring the local business landscape. Our ambassadors gained valuable insights into various job sectors and exciting career opportunities right on their doorstep.
Next, we jumped into the art of networking. Our ambassadors honed their communication skills through interactive sessions and built meaningful connections. A brave North Shore Academy ambassador kicked things off with a live demonstration before everyone followed in her footsteps to engage with business professionals, teachers and the other school ambassadors who they met for the first time today.
Whilst the networking was happening, the Spark team led balcony tours around the top floor of AV Dawson, offering amazing views of the Tees Valley. This made real the diverse career pathways available, in front of their eye; from engineering to renewable energy. We also offered an opportunity to explore the Spark business map for a more interactive dive into many different companies and career paths on offer in our area.
After a well-earned lunch break, the afternoon took a SPARKling turn as Andrew, donned a gold lamé jacket and became quiz master! The live quiz encouraged our young ambassadors to compare their perspectives on job success with those of working professionals, sparking fascinating discussions on the most valued skills and attitudes in the world of work.
It was a truly engaging and thought-provoking day, equipping our ambassadors with the knowledge and confidence to bring their insights back to school.
