At West View Primary School, part of the Ad Astra Trust, we recently hosted a series of Equality and Aspiration sessions that left us inspired by the energy and potential of the incredible Year 5 pupils. These sessions centered on the Power of Women (PoW) Campaign and the Primary School Ambassador Program, aimed to ignite aspirations, promote equal opportunities, and challenge gender stereotypes.

Led by Spark Tees Valley, the sessions embraced inclusivity, inviting every pupil to engage in meaningful discussions about equality, with a special focus on gender equality. Together, we explored the pupils’ aspirations for the future, guiding them through conversations about diverse career paths and the profound impact of the choices they make now on their future opportunities.

For the selection of our ambassadors, we were fortunate to have Mrs Sagewood from West View Primary School on our interview panel. The pupils received a real-life taste of the interview process, Mrs Sagewood and the team listened as each child confidently stepped into the interview room, brimming with ideas and aspirations. With the overwhelming number of outstanding applications, choosing just a few ambassadors proved challenging!

These sessions weren’t just about planning for the future—they were about fostering confidence, breaking down barriers, and empowering every child to envision a world without limits. Watching the Year 5 pupils engage with curiosity and enthusiasm reaffirmed the importance of creating spaces where young minds can dream big and grow into tomorrow’s leaders.

The journey at West View Primary continues to inspire us, and we can’t wait to see how these young changemakers take their first steps toward shaping a brighter, more inclusive future.
