This month, we had the privilege of hosting four incredible Power of Women (PoW) sessions at Marton Manor and Heathfield Primary Schools, both part of the Lingfield Trust. These sessions brought Year 5 pupils together as part of the PoW Primary School Ambassador Initiative, a program designed to elevate aspirations, champion equal opportunities, and break down gender biases.

The program’s inclusive approach ensures that every pupil has a chance to engage deeply with the principles of equality through interactive, classroom-based sessions led by Spark Tees Valley. Together, we explored the pupils’ aspirations, delved into career opportunities within the local area, and reflected on their strengths and passions. Through thoughtful discussions, the children began identifying essential enterprise skills and attitudes that serve as building blocks for future success.

Throughout the sessions, we emphasised the importance of keeping life choices broad and flexible, equipping the pupils with strategies to maximise their opportunities. The discussions didn’t just focus on maintaining options—it was about empowering these young minds to actively shape the futures they envision.

We selected four outstanding ambassadors to represent their schools. Lily Brothwood from Intelect and Cheryl Hodds from Thirteen, joined us to conduct some of the interviews alongside Sonia Herlingshaw from Spark Tees Valley. Their presence gave the pupils a real-world glimpse into professional interactions. Brimming with enthusiasm, the Year 5 students impressed us with their confidence, thoughtful application forms, and impressive performances during the interviews.

It has been a truly rewarding experience engaging with the pupils in the Lingfield Trust. These sessions not only sparked meaningful conversations about equality and aspirations but also nurtured the leadership potential of these future changemakers. We can’t wait to see the impact these young ambassadors will have on their schools and communities as they engage with the rest of the PoW Primary Ambassador Program!
