Today, something truly inspiring unfolded at Aycliffe Primary School. The Year 5 pupils, buzzing with excitement and big dreams, took centre stage as they embarked on a journey to explore their aspirations and develop key life skills. With the help of Headteacher, Mrs Adamson, Donna Gowland from 3M and Abigail Howey from PX Group, we proudly selected the latest cohort of Power of Women (PoW) Ambassadors as part of the Primary School Ambassador Programme.
The journey began with a hands-on Spark session exploring their future careers. The pupils were immersed in discussions about the skills, attitudes, and life choices that shape bright futures. Beyond simply imagining career paths, we tackled important themes such as promoting equal opportunities and breaking down gender stereotypes—a powerful message that resonated with every pupil.
The atmosphere was electric during our sessions, made even more special by the return of last year’s Year 6 PoW Ambassadors. These seasoned young leaders stepped up to mentor the new generation, sharing their experiences and offering a glimpse into what lies ahead for this year’s ambassadors. Their guidance and enthusiasm truly motivated the Year 5s to dream big and aim high.
With Mrs Adamson, Abigail and Donna’s guidance, the pupils experienced what a professional interview feels like. One by one, they stepped confidently into the interview room, their preparation and enthusiasm shining through. The quality of their application forms and their responses during interviews were nothing short of exceptional, making the final selections a challenging yet rewarding task.
Reflecting on the experience, it’s clear these sessions were about more than just choosing ambassadors—they were about planting seeds of confidence and possibility. Over two sessions, we explored equality, fostered aspirations, and provided a platform for these young leaders to shine.
Aycliffe Primary’s Year 5 pupils have shown they’re ready to take on the future with open minds and determined hearts. It’s been an absolute privilege to support them on this journey and watch their aspirations take flight.
