The wait is over, and we are thrilled to reveal the inspiring PoW Ambassadors from Brambles Primary, Discovery Special Academy, Dormanstown Primary Academy, Pennyman Academy, and Wilton Primary Academy! These Tees Valley Education schools are joining forces to challenge gender stereotypes and raise aspirations for pupils across the Tees Valley.

From September to November, we held POW sessions across all Tees Valley Education schools as part of the Primary School Ambassador Program, working with Key Stage 2 pupils on the POW Ambassador Programme. These sessions were designed to foster ambition, promote equal opportunities, and break down gender biases. Now, after months of exciting collaboration, we’ve handpicked four exceptional ambassadors from each school to represent their peers.

In these interactive sessions, pupils from Year 5 discussed their future dreams and career possibilities. We created an inclusive environment where every child had the chance to explore the concept of equality—especially gender equality—while thinking about how their choices today will shape their futures. The energy in the room was electric as some of last year’s Year 6 POW Ambassadors returned to offer advice and showcased what lies ahead for this new group of young leaders.

Our selection panel—which included influential figures like Jill Fiden, Aaron Walker, and Julie Hollis from Thirteen Group, Lisa Tipton from New World Financial Group and Abigail Howey from PX Group—were blown away by the enthusiasm and confidence of the pupils during the interview process. The commitment and passion they displayed, from their application forms to their interview performances, made the selection process both exciting and incredibly tough. Each ambassador proved themselves to be a true leader in the making!

These sessions were more than just interviews—they were a fantastic opportunity for all Tees Valley Education schools to come together and emphasise the importance of equality while encouraging children to reach for the stars. We’re incredibly proud of what’s been accomplished so far, and there is still more to come.

The excitement doesn’t stop here! In January, all the PoW ambassadors from every school will come together for our first development day—an event that promises to be an inspiring and empowering experience for all.

Stay tuned as these remarkable young leaders continue to pave the way for a brighter, more equal future.
